300 wsm and 210 vlds

i have a fn pbr 300wsm with a 12 twist, will this twist stabilize this bullet, anyone have info on this,,, thanks

Almost certainly not. An 11.25 twist is barely enough, in most conditions. I shoot 210s in a 10" twist with excellent results. You might consider the new Berger 168 Hybrid. It has a G7 B.C. of .266, nearly as good as the 185 VLD.

You should send me your exact mailing address in a PM and I will send you 25 bullets for testing.
I am using 13.25 twist Kreiger and 13.5 twist Bartleins on my 300 WSM's and using 200 gr MatchKings they are shooting lights out with H4350.
I would shoot them at clean paper at 100 yards looking for keyholing or oblong holes.
You will know immediately if they will work or not that way.

I have found it better to err on the tight side for twist when shooting long range. My Pierce rifle shoots 155.5 Berger FULLBORE bullets from a 10" twist to ¼ MOA at 300. I won a couple of 1000 yard matches with that combo, wind effects notwithstanding. Conventional wisdom says that a stability factor over 2.0 is excessive but, in this case, it shoots.

Looking at Berger's web site, they do recommend 12" or faster for 210 VLDs. Try them, they may work just fine. You might also try the 200 Matchking as Lynn suggests. It is an older design, shorter than the Berger 210 VLD and more easily stabilized.

thanks for the articles steve, and lynn thanks too... i was told that a 7mm wsm with a 10 twist doesnt shoot the 180 grn berger vlds,,, but thats not true,, my rifle a rem 600 with a 24" 10 twist hart barrel shoot the hell out of them,,, funny thing is that the impact at 50 yds is exactly the same as the berger 168 vlds,, meaning u could put them in the same hole,,,i cant figure that one out,, lol

just got the bullets lynn,,, gonna test sometime this coming week ill let u know how they perform on my rifle,,,,,,,,,thanks

According to JBM Ballistics, my 1-12 twist 32" barrell will shoot 210 SMKs, JLKs, VLDs, take your pick, no problem. Kicker is you need to get the speed up over 2750 for best results. Shouldn't be hard to in a 300WSM, especially if you've got a long pipe.
