300 WSM 1000 yard ladder test.

So for you long range shooters what do you find to be a somewhat avg on ES and SD at 1K in accuracy testing?
I know for me at 600 it's usually an ES of 12-18 fps is where I find my loads to yield the best accuracy.
I find most my best loads are between 10 and 15. The low ES ones never seem to be the best. Back in 2005 I had a really good 308 Baer Heavygun. The Best loads at 1000 averaged 20 to 25 ES. That gun won a lot and set a few records. Matt

Hi can you help me understand the O numbers vs the x number

O started at a lower velocity 2912 and had an ES of 10fps
X was 12fps faster 2924 but had the same ES 10.
an increase in velocity .004% wouldn't (shouldn't) have an increased sd of 1 or 21%

those are tight groups and would be exciting to work with

There are .010 difference in each seating depth. That's what the 2.450, 2.460, and the 2.470 numbers represent.

thank you. i am following the depth numbers

IT is the ES and SD numbers that are puzzling. if both have an ES of 10 but the two speeds are different there should be a reduction in SD for the higher velocity bullets below 3.6 not worse at 4.6.

I edited my post i had entered the wrong numbers in excel a spread of 10 for both...

thank you

please disregard when i run an excel program and punch in the ES of the two speeds the SD numbers are as you have written 3.6 and 4.6. i need more learning
thank you

Yea I don't understand how the Labrador came up with different SD numbers when the ES was the same.

JamesnTN,

was the charge window you are 63.5-64.0gr does the velocity stabilize and create a flat spot in relation to gain in velocity and charge weight increase.

I did a test today starting at 63.3 and going up in .2 grain increments. I was flat at 63.3 and 63.5 and then I had a slight rise at 63.7 and then it went to crap at 63.9. Today's conditions weren't the best as I had wind conditions that would letup and then pick back up. I ran off and forgot my chrono as I was in a hurry hopefully not to beat the storm that was coming in.
