300 win mag velocity

Nothing wrong with that speed. Every barrel is a little different. The last time I owned a 300 win mag, I was getting 180gr bullets up over 3200 fps with a 24" barrel, 1 in 12 twist using RL19. It's a fast magnum round for sure.

Longview 79 gr is fine in my gun. Borden action,26" BRUX, Holland brake, Mcmillan Game Scout. I did however use a custom reamer with added free bore. I talked in depth with BROZ over on Long Range Only who is a expert on the 300 Win Mag. He advised me on how to spec the reamer for the 215. With a Wyatt extended box I barely have clearance for my COAL. So I am utilizing all my case capacity. No pressure signs in my gun. I stopped there because I am sure I am at or near MAX. Velocity was very good and accuracy is awesome. Load development consisted of 15 rounds only because I started so low on powder charge. I run them 30 thou off. Anyone with a standard reamer should not try to go up to this load.

Thanks for the reply. That cleared some questions I had. I have ordered a few boxes of 215s and going work up a load hopefully around 76 to 77 gr of h1000. The 210 smk shot great but my main goal is to get a good consistent round to shoot a mile

Out of my TRG (1:11) here at 4200ft above sea level, I'm getting great results out of this::

Berger 210 hybrid .065" off the lands (yes, that's not a typo, it seems the Bergers LOVE that jump)
75.0gr H-1000
Federal 215(m) primers
I've just worked up to this, with no signs of pressure yet.
I'm getting 3180fps out of it according to my MagnetoSpeed.

started doing some load testing and was just second guessing my chrono I’m running a 28 in krieger 1-10 twist using 210 gr SMK and 71.5gr of reloader 22. .010 off the lands and getting a consistent 3080 FPS. Just seems a little faster than I thought it would be. Any ideas. Thanks

Suggest you pay close attention to the primer pockets.

I have had two different 300wms. One had a reamer cut for 215s and neither of them would get over 77gr H1000 without excessive pressure and neither would go over 3000fps. I would caution anyone reading this to proceed with caution.
