300 Win Mag Lands are LONG....WHY....?

Not true!

The SAAMI specs (and CIP specs) include a chamber drawing, with a freebore indicated on said drawing (it's old, weird and sloppy for the .300Win Mag).
That raises an obvious question..Why then, are different mfg rifles not identical freebores? Without looking myself, the stated spec you mention is likely "minimum" and I never mentioned or said there wasn't a spec for freebore but that factory ammo has to fit in factory ammo boxes, not at the lands or a stated amount of jump or jam. That makes freebore irrelevant to fitting factory box magazines.

SAAMI specs are "recommended" not required specs.

They are required for factory guns and ammunition.
The most confusing thing I see with saami specs is that of minimum chamber and maximum brass length. On most cartridges there is an overlap where brass can be longer than the minimum chamber length. I'm referring to headspace or datum measurement. So in theory, both the brass and the chamber can be within proper spec but the brass be too long to chamber. Hmmm.
