Hello All, looking for advice and comments on a new rifle I purchase recently. I ran across a collection of Parker Hale Rifles and there was a new unfired 300 win mag that was bought in 1970 and still in packaging. I picked it up for a song. I put a Shepherd P-1 3.5-15 on it and grabbed a box of Federal Premium to try it out. After sighting this gun in we stepped it out to 800yds and it held .75moa - at this distance running two five shot strings. I cannot afford to run theses factory loads and I am looking for some load data to try some Seirra 190gr match kings. The factory ammo was a 180gr bonded that shot so well. Guys with this gun and there load I know it will shoot and threw the years I've n been behind 5 different Parker Hale rifles and have yet to see one that will not hold under 3/4moa. I haven't found much out there on these guns and loads, but I would like to step out and beyond 1000meters I believe the gun is more than capable and need some input on getting there with reloads and data to do so. I look forward to any and all advice on these things and what you maybe experiencing in your Parker Hale Rifles. As for my optics I have been running the Shepherd Scope for years and this scope will put game down with first round vital hits out to 800yds on both rifles I run them on. I am looking to go to the next step though but no game has presented itself as of yet for me to step out there and I don't have a range to test the scopes 1000 meter objective. Please jump in and share I know I am not alone in these questions or the rifle.
