hi all I finally have a 300 win mag in a Remington 700 1-11 T ,I’m getting really nice groups with Nosler 168 grain BT bullets and federal GM215M primers . I haven’t hunted with it yet and I know it’s over kill for white tail deer .Just wondering if anybody has ever loaded this round and hunted deer with this bullet and what results they’ve gotten .thank you.

With the lengthy list of .30 caliber bullets, not everyone will have had the experience with your combination. However, when I loaded lighter bullets in the .300 Win. Mag. I found that Hodgdon 100V performed well although not at the upper velocity range of other powders. It is cooler burning. The other I used was VVN-160 with good results. Try this first:

Lots of data to try.

:)

Things I’ve noticed about questions regarding bullet performance on game. Invariably Every one of them has a “failed to perform“ story from someone, and they all have a DRT story.

The general consensus is always “put it in the front half (esp. at 300WM velocities) and it’ll make ‘em dead.”

I used the 165 NBT in a win (rem sendero) for several years. I had two loads, H-4350 @3000FPS and R-22 @ 3380FPS both were very accurate, the R-22 load was absolutely devastating on deer. I used the slower load in South Africa with fantastic results, on the larger animals I poked them in the ribs.

No such thing as overkill, only underkill.

Hit them here: Black dot POI. Red dot is shockwave that disrupts CNS.

What powder are you using and what do you estimate the FPS?
