300 weatherby brass worth trying to save..?

I came across an add from a guy selling out his reloading equipment. I had to go look of course. His wife showed me the stuff. Ended up buying a set of 300 wthrby dies and a neck die along with some misc. tools and about 75 rnds of 300 brass. I asked why he was selling everything and she said that everytime he goes out shooting he comes back mad... can't get his reloads to group... anyways i paid the lady and went on my way... Later I'm putting things away and the brass was in two of the blue 50 rnd boxes..and I looked at them for the first time... they were cleaned, trimmed and primed... but something was off... see pic.. the one on the left it from my dads 300... the right is the guys 'prepped' case... dont know if he was trying to bump the shoulder back with the neck die or what... kind of scratching my head on this... Is it worth the powder and bullet to form these back...??? Is there another way?

If they will chamber, they will be fine- a lot better than the parent round, the 300 Holland. I have fired several hundred 300 H&H rounds in 300 Wby chambers with pretty good results. Is the brass Remington? If so, it is not worth the trouble to use brand new.

If he's been crushing his shoulders that far back it's no wonder he can't get it to shoot.

You could try to shoot some to form and see. That's a lot of working on the brass. I'd probably just toss it. You know it won't shoot for crap like that so you're just going to be wasting bullets forming the cases.

Is the brass Remington? If so, it is not worth the trouble to use brand new.

unfortunatly most of it is R-P headstamped... the are a dozen or so with Weatherby headstamp...

That is what I was thinking... I found a few other indicators that he didnt really know what he was doing... not that im perfect... but he seemed clueless and apparantly happy to pay for factory rounds.

With each round consuming over 70grns of powder and a bullet of some sort i think i my just try and save the Weatherby brass and toss the rest... unless someone could use it for something else... I didn't get hurt to bad on the deal, not as good as i hoped but my mistake for not inspecting everthing.

Not sure of the recipe but some load a mix of cream of wheat and a small charge of shotgun powder to form shoulders on some of the smaller wildcats. An idea ...

anneal to get the brass back to normal hardness before loading.

When I first started with the 300 Wby had the same issue from poor seating die adjustment. They will reform but you are probably going to get a bulge above the belt as well. You can use a collet die to cure this.
