.300 Ultra COAL

I was wondering what is the longest COAL that you can reliably cycle through a magazine in this cartidge? I have heard that you can only cycle 3.6 COAL reliably is this true or can you get out to 3.8 COAL and be alright? Thanks

What ever your manual list as COA will be magazine max. Mine had a pretty long throat, savage 116fss) i can seat my bullets probably .100 longer than the magazine and still not quite touch. Part of it has to do with reducing pressure and making lawyers happy. Basically if you want to seat into the lands with any factory rifle and still fit the mag your asking to much. Now with the 300 rum many guys reported a coal to fit the magazine and the rifles shot great. Also brass is only going to last 3-4 firings no matter what. If i had to do it all over i thing i would have gone with a 30/338 lapua, but my rum was only $420

Well that's what I thought. As far as the reloading I have gotten 4-5 reloads per brass. I have been using Remington brass. Also I have noticed that my brass doesn't stretch like other calibers so. thanks for the input though.

My OAL is 3.675 and it fits my mag fine, my rifle is a rem 700 sendero. What kind of pwder do you use? The reason I ask is because someone on the longrangehunting website said the new h-1000 retumbo h50 bmg powders have a hotter burn rate than the older production run of powder. One last thing about the brass, I use to load the max load out of the hornady book I was loading for the 155 AMAX remington brass I would have to toss the brass at the 4th load I finally got it out of my head fast, fast, faster is not always the better, now I get 9 to 11 loads with rem. brass, because of this one thing I stopped loading by the max . Just my experience.

I have found that my 700 Sendero prefers 210gr SMK's with 87grs of Retumbo, and a Federal Mag. match primer @ a 3.8 COAL. I believe I am pushing them right around 2900-3000fps. I also found that the rifle likes 165 Accubonds and 180 Accubonds. I also tried some 125gr NBT's and it seemed to shoot pretty well also, not like the 210's but acceptable.
