300 short mag

I'm thinking about a 300 short mag or another 30:06. Does anyone have an opinion? I have 4 30:06 rifles but non in synthetic for bad weather moose hunt or out west. How is the 300 short mag recoil compared to 06?

The recoil of the 300 WSM is a lot more about like a 300 Win. You would have a lot more energy and can shoot the heavier bullets better, It should be good for Moose. Matt

If you want a GREAT Elk / Moose cartridge and you obviously like the 30-06 there is a nice cartridge made out of one of those 30-06's you have.. Rebarrel one to .338-06. Shoot the Nosler 225gr Partition and watch your Moose go crashing to the ground in short order. All you do is simply neck up the 30-06 case to .338 and VOILA>> you have a premier large game cartridge.
