300 SAUM

Go ahead. I'll take any data I can get. I am trying to decide between the 300WM and a SAUM. Already owned a WSM and didn't care for it.

I've had a couple of them, both 700 sporters.

The second one I worked strictly with the 180 Accubonds, and H-4350 was the clear winner for powder choice.

I'd start there.

I have both .300 WSM & .300 RSAUM and I prefer the .300 RSAUM. When I first started out with the .300 RSAUM I had a few 190 Si MK's available which I loaded with H4350 in my 1-10 twist barrel at a COL just over 2.8 inches. I use close to maximum loads of H4350, about 58 gr. It shot flatter than my 06. The 185 Bergers should be sort of similar but don't know about the COL. I also shoot the 168 gr Hornady hpbt, 178 H AMaxes and 155 H AMaxes but use 150's for hunting - all with H4350.

This cartridge should be more popular.

What kind of velocities are you getting with the 190's? What is it about the SAUM that you prefer it over the WSM? I know that I didn't care for the WSM myself. How far are you taking your rifle?

Sorry about not getting back to you. I use 210 Berger VLD's, 58.0 H4350, BR2's, Remington brass. OAL is about 3.00" to seat the bullets into the lands .010". Velocity 2780 fps with about 6 fps ES out of a 28" barrel. Steve

For the .300 WSM I use 66 gr of H4350 with a 150 gr SST for hunting (deer), also in a R77 SA MKII with a 24 inch McGowen barrel - fast and accurate but I wish it fed better. I take the .300 RSAUM out more than the WSM.

I use CCI 250's except for the 06 where I use WLR's.

Do you do any long range hunting with your SAUM?

I ended up running 61.2g of Ramshot Hunter with the 210g LRBT at 2806 fps

The cases have been reloaded 9 times and are still GTG.

I shot the 185gr VLDs with 60-60.5gr H4350 at about 2850fps out of 26" tube.

I am now shooting 210 VLDs with mild load of RL17 at 2760fps. First 3 shots at 300 yards were a nice 0.3" group. 500 yard groups average 2".

The thing about the LRBT is.
It really doesnt matter where there seated in relation to the lands.
I ran from .01 into the lands to .05 off and it just didnt seem to make any real difference..
