300 SAUM AND 190 VLD

For those interested I recently chambered a 10 twist 26 inch Kreiger medium Palma contour in 300 SAUM (at this point for Elk).I am running Berger 190 VLD'S ( THICK JACKET) with 63.5 gr of Reloder - 19 with Remington brass and WLR primers at magazine length. That load over an Oehler 35p produced a velocity of 2971 fps with an sd of 8 and 1.75 inch 3 shot group at 325 yards off of a Harris bi pod. Absolutely no pressure signs indicated on the brass or the primer.
The reamer has .124 lead and was set up by PT&G for the 190 vld but not really for use at mag length.
I had to relieve some of the internal magazine metal up front to ensure reliable feeding but things are working well on the short action 700 at this point. It will accept 3 rounds in the magazine . For those considering the cartridge for use in the short action I recommend polishing the feed ramp a bit as well.

Some data below at temps from 80 to 90 degrees again at mag length 2.820-2.825 .

R- 19 ON ALL THUS FAR ( 3 round groups)

62 grs. 2901 fps with WLR primer .5 inches tall at 325 yds.

63 grs. 2918 fps with CCI 250 primer 1 MOA at 325 yds.

63.5 grs. CCI 250 with CCI 250 primer 2955 fps sd -10 sub Moa at 325 yds.

63.5 grs. WLR (OLDER WHITE BOX ) 2971 SD-8 1.75 inches at 325 yds.

I was'nt sure what to expect, I hoped I may be able to pull 2900 with the 190's but I went right by that without a problem. I'm definitely impressed with the cartridge . I've run successive hits on 12 inch steel at work at 1050 yards with this rig. It seems to be needing about 2 moa more elevation than the my 6.5-284 with 140 vld's at 3000 fps from 600 yards and beyond and about half to three quarters Moa more wind than the 6.5-284

I'm not sure about the Berger B.C. on this bullet but the come ups are real close to the JBM program. I don't think I'd run this cartridge competitively . I know there are a number of folks using it in F-class and the case geometry is a bit more appealing than the WSM but it seems like an awful lot of powder to be burning in a match.
Anyway for those of you looking for an accurate hunting round with awesome energy and performance up close or far away this thing fills the niche nicely in my opinion.
