300 rsaum to 300 wsm

bolt faces are not the same.the saum has has a bigger camfer were the case head meets the body than wsm's or wssm's.the saum use's a slitely smaller bolt face.the wssm case will go into the bolt and the camfered area near the head will hit the inside edge of the bolt causing the the head of the case not to tuch the bolt face.been there, open up the bolt face and put in a sako extractor or have it done.I also vote for a saum to,I have a 300saum hunting rife.180 nosler bt's at 3100 drt.:D:o:lol:

The Remington 7mm SAUM BDL action that I used to make up a Pac-Nor barreled 325 winchester seemed to work just fine with the Remington SAUM bolt in place.....
I used 300 WSM brass necked up to take the 8mm 200 grain Accubonds...
The 300 WSM rim measures---.534
The Rem SAUM rim measures--..528
Either one will work just fine, even though they are not the same, and the .006 difference means nothing as far as being able to allow the rifle to work it's magic..
Both the 7mm SAUM bolts I have DO NOT interfere with the 300 WSM cases..
I'm still plugging along with a plain old 7mm SAUM though, and as happy as can be......

Exactly! Go to a shop open different brands of Magnum ammo, belted or beltless, and measure the head dia. There will be variances. It's what is known as "within acceptable tolerences".
SAAMI sets the standards and ammo manufacturers try to stay "between the lines". And by the way, if you think head dia. varies a lot, check out the belt width, affects headspace) and datum line to boltface.
