300 prc

I'm using Hornady brass. I'm getting 8 firings out of it before it goes south. 215 Bergers @ 3015fps. And, it's shooting really well. I cycled through 50 pieces doing load development and breaking the barrel in. I anneal after every firing. I'll wait till Peterson comes out with brass for it before I switch.
But, for the price of the Hornady stuff, I'll keep using it.

What to you use your, 300 PRC for? Do you compete in PRS?
HELL NO! I built it for ELR kinda. Kicks too much for PMS shooting. I shoot mine with a TBAC 338 can. I've tried Atips, 225 . ELD match, 200 Sierras. The 215s are so far the most accurate out to 1350. I just got some of the new 220 Bergers to try. We'll see. Reloader 26 seems to be the winner so far.

when s peterson coming out with it
Don't know for sure, just hoping. At $2 apiece for the ADG, I'm satisfied with the Hornady stuff for less than 1$ apiece. . It's not great, but 5 reloads apiece, I'm happy with it so far. I had to clean up the necks and sort. If Peterson comes out with it, I'll try it.

I'm not concerned about brass so much as to how many barrels you'll go through. 215's at 3015fps, you might want to start an inventory of finished barrels on deck.

Got a couple chambered at the same time.
I was concerned about that too. I ck the throat and barrel every time I shoot and clean with a Hawkeye. 450 rounds on it now and all looks good! Throats not moving too much after the first 150 rounds. Let it cool after a few shots cause it do get warm!. It's not a high volume gun for sure. Time will tell, but I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing so far.
About the same as my 338 LM Imp pushing a 300 grain OTM at 3080. That actually looks better. Only shooting ELR with it so 850 is the starting distance, 2055 is as far as my range goes. Maybe 25-35 rounds per session.

Be prepared. The erosion could break loose at a higher round count. I have associates in the Fclass game who use 7RSAUMs and 300WSMs. They are changing barrels on the 7s about 800 rounds and about 900-1000 on the 300s. 215s in excess of 3000fps, its not so much the infrequent firing, its the high pressure and extreme heat each time. I hope you get good round counts from your barrels but monitor the erosion well. Cheers.

My question to Peterson this week was answered that they "currently are not looking at making the PRC calibers."

I read just a week ago Lapua was going to start making 300 and 6.5 PRC brass. I saw it on this forum or long range hunting. Who knows if it’s true or when they will put it into production.

There was a post a few days back that says Lapua is going to do 6.5 and 300 PRC.
Didn't see anything on their site so not sure if it is true. I'll wait and see.

The response I received from Lapua USA (Capstone Precision Group):

"We've not heard of official plans or a timeline but we are hoping to see the 300 PRC case soon. We've been asking for it whenever they ask for input and I will add your request to the list as well. Best case scenario, we'll hear something around SHOT Show, hopefully."

Lapua have added 300 PRC brass to their line up for 2021. Nioa does not yet have a delivery indication from Lapua, but they will more than likely collect, and collate orders before they will tool up to do a run of this brass. This could lead to delays initially. I can only recommend placing an order with your dealer, and getting your name on the list early. This will make sure you can get early, and then ongoing supply.

"Hi John,

Thank you for your email.

Lapua have added 300 PRC brass to their line up for 2021. The U.S. Lapua Distributor Capstone Precision in Missouri should have the same information, and be able to take an order, or direct you to a local agent of theirs.
