Do you know which seating stem I have Redding diesI’m in the same boat. Shooting a 300PRC and I’m just about out of 215 Bergers. I have heard good things about the A-Tips. I use a Whidden die and it’s my understanding A-tips need a specific seating stem which means I need to drop $30ish just to try the bullets. Decisions.
Lots of bullet choices. For your 8 twist, you have the luxury of the heavier mono option as well. The 8 twist may give you issues of over spinning a Hornady bullet. Can't say for sure but people have had those experiences. My 300PRC is a 9 twist and staying in the 180-190 grain mono range is my option. My primary bullet is going to be that 225 ELD.I’ve got a 30” 8 twist barrel on the way trying to decide which bullet to shoot can’t find any 215 or 230 bergers so looking at the 230 and 250 atips anyone have any insight to help a man out the intended use and only purpose is elr 1000-2500 yards
Depends on which die you have. You would have to Google it or contact Redding.Do you know which seating stem I have Redding dies
I haven't confirmed the BC of the 225 or 230 gr loads....my go to long range load for the 308 is the new 200 gr SMK at 2856 average fps at 1200 ft altitude, the G7 B.C..360, my #1 rifle and #1 load entered in the Kestrel...not the 250 Atip and the 300 RUM at 2985 fps with a 26" barrel. Considering ordering a 30" 8 twist for it...I have ran some 225 gr ELDM in it at 2990 fps with the bullets not coming apart...in a 10 twist. This action has been milled to feed 4.020" cartridges, but i need to change the barrel for thr higher 250 Atip BC bullets to stabilize them for long range...which is kind of an expensive endeavor. And my Long range enthusiasm has worn down over 30 years of doing it...been there done that. My latest project "push the 308 to the extreme" has paid off ...the 30" 8 T barrel was ordered for the 300 RUM, but instead went on the 308 build, with long action & chasis system it runs great as far as I usually care to shoot these days which is about 1500 yds...and alot cheaper to shoot. Then I built a 6 Dasher, I really like the 6 Dasher...So the 300 RUM project was put on hold ....I still have 225 gr test rds loaded to shoot in it, to push the velocities...whats possible? What did you get the Bc to come to at those velocity
The 225s can run 3100 with out coming apart in a 9 twist for sure. Going the 8 twist could cause an issue tho.I haven't confirmed the BC of the 225 or 230 gr loads....my go to long range load for the 308 is the new 200 gr SMK at 2856 average fps at 1200 ft altitude, the G7 B.C..360, my #1 rifle and #1 load entered in the Kestrel...not the 250 Atip and the 300 RUM at 2985 fps with a 26" barrel.
