300 prc bullet choices?

I’ve got a 30” 8 twist barrel on the way trying to decide which bullet to shoot can’t find any 215 or 230 bergers so looking at the 230 and 250 atips anyone have any insight to help a man out the intended use and only purpose is elr 1000-2500 yards

I have used the 230 and 250 atips and got repeatable results under 3/4 moa (mostly) at 1800 yards the longest range I’ve tried , probably could get a little more out of them , 29” 8tw, H1000 and Retumbo , the 225s also shoot well as do the Berger 208s - I have been wanting to try the Berger 245 but cannot find any for love or money - I’ve also used the sierra 190 they were ok out to 1k , Similar to what Dave had at around 1/2 Moa, all of a rest and rear bags

I have no idea of the velocity. I was after accuracy. I was using a bunch of Rl25. I have 1-9.5 twist. I could see possible problems in an 8 twist. As a rule the thinner the jacket the more accurate a bullet will be. Thus the difference between the ELD-X and ELD-M's.
Personally I don't like the extremes. There are always problems.

I shoot Hornady 225 ELDM's in my 300-PRC with solid results ... and they're easy to find in this craziness (Midway usually has them in stock).

What velocity are y’all running the 225 eld I’ve read a lot of people blowing them up in a prc
I had a good node at 2918 , when I was seeing how hard I could push them at around 2990ish I had a few dismantling themselves and accuracy fell apart , it was also very hard on the Hornady brass primer pockets , spectacular cloud at around 30 yards , 2 of 8 did that , so I backed it down - 8tw 29”

I'm not shooting the prc, but I will respond anyway. I'm shooting a 30-284. I have two indentical rifles, both 9 twist Kreigers. 28"....One throated .200 and the other .260 for the long bullets. The Bergers (215, 230) shoot well. As you say....cant get them. The best shooting bullet for the .260 throated rifle is the 230 A-tip. It is very accurate. Never shot long 20-30 shot strings. I only shoot 5 shot strings max with H4831sc. You will not go wrong with this bullet if not pushed to the max. Your 8tw and hot days may not be good on any bullet shooting long strings. There is another post about these two rifles. Not shooting competition right now. Just having fun with friends. You will see a couple of pics with what I call fairly good accuracy. One pic with 3 shots....at 200 yds. You will see a 300 yd pic and at Caprock long range facility last Friday, Right out of the case with cold barrel it shot this 3 shot group at 700 yards in 12-15 crosswind.
Once again, Its not a prc, but I would think it would work fine if you throat it for the bullet and not push it real hard. I'm only shooting at 2465. I call the gun....my old heavy and slow Cadillac!

Has anyone had enough experience with the Berger 220's
to make a comparison against the 230's and 225's?

If you can find either, the 245 bergers and n570 gave me excellent results in a 26” barrel with.01 grain less than bergers recommended max charge. I’m currently shooting 212 eldx’s and imr8133 just for availability. You will be surprised at the velocity you will get with the 245’s. I tried the 250’s but didn’t spend much time with them.

My PRC is a 9 twist. 225s are solid if it's not too hot (long strings) out to 1300 or so. I'm running the 215s currently with real good results. I did some very preliminary testing with the 220s. They showed a lot of promise. Trouble is, I only have a couple hundred. I'm definitely going to revisit the 220s.

Shot the Niteforce ELR match in Casper this weekend. Hot,Hot,Hot. I didn't see it, but heard from quite a few guys who were blowing up 225s. No idea how fast they were running, or twist.

I shoot the 225 ELDM in a 1-8 twist 308 Win Long action, 30" heavy palma barrel at 2680 fps, they are generally more accurate then 230 Atips, accuracy is excellent, and no blowing up at that speed. I ordered a thousand on clearance sale, cheap, 30 cents each for 10 boxes of 100 bullets.

What did you get the Bc to come to at those velocity

I’m in the same boat. Shooting a 300PRC and I’m just about out of 215 Bergers. I have heard good things about the A-Tips. I use a Whidden die and it’s my understanding A-tips need a specific seating stem which means I need to drop $30ish just to try the bullets. Decisions.
