300 PRC Brass

The Hornady brass may be better than Hornady of the past but it is not good brass by any standard of mine. ADG will be making brass Q1 2020. If you are building a custom the 30 Nosler is a better cartridge.

RCC brass, but it's really expensive. I paid about $6.05/case (~$300/50cases). Bought 50 cases. It's machined brass and they will machine it to your spec. It's suppose to last 50+ reloads, which equates to about ~$0.12-50reloads.

I've had to buy it a couple of times when other brass or a particular cartridge was obsolete. Yep, it's way too expensive for the average shooter to even consider.:( Only under extreme circumstances would I consider it again. But it is an alternative source just in case...;)

Nope it's not. 300.00 for 50 cases, meaning pieces ??? If that's the case, I'll wait till 2020 or definitely deal with Hornady brass. I don't consider myself an average shooter or I'd buy it. For an average shooter, 50 pieces of brass could last a lifetime. It wouldn't last me half the lifetime of a barrel.

I just straightened up a batch of Hornady brass for my 300 PRC. I can’t speak to how long they will hold up, but they were more consistent weight and neck concentricity then a batch of Winchester brass for my 300 win mag.

Knowledge and opinions vary.;)
Ability to spend that much is probably the biggest factor. While I love shooting, I have some other interests seasonally that just spending 300.00 on 50 pieces of brass just isn't practical for me. Also competitive shooters are a group of guys that do spend that kind of cash getting the best accuracy they can. Being a hunter, my interest for that good of accuracy just isn't there. Hornady works for me. I will look at better brass as it becomes available provided it's affordable for me.

I think Hornady gets poo pooed a lot because their first 6.5 Creedmoor brass was a little soft. They changed their process and since then has been much better. A few years ago when I couldn't find Creedmoor brass for my 6mm Creedmoor I got some 22-250 Lapua brass to reform. No more brass life than the Hornady, just less case capacity. There seems to be some people who just want bash anything Hornady.

I have used Hornady brass in 204R, 6.5 CM, 6.5 PRC, 300 PRC. It is not even close to being as good as other options in each cartridge. This is not just a I hate Hornady brass because I will use whatever is the best. Maybe some like to bash but I have compared. It is not very consistent in any dimension and has soft primer pockets. It is even softer than Norma or Nosler which I would consider soft. As far as lapua brass not lasting any longer I am not sure what you are doing but I have found the exact opposite. Where some cases only last 2-3 firings Lapua will last over 15 for the same velocity. It is often smaller case capacity so if you just loaded to the same powder charge then most likely you were higher pressure and velocity.

I'll try some Hornady 300 PRC brass when I get the gun up and running. I'm sure it's not even close to the Lapua or Norma brass but it'll work for my load work. Hopefully some better stuff comes out that's alot less than 300.00 for 50 pieces. 1.50 ea isn't too bad considering I'd only need 100 cases. I think I could get 600-1000 loads from 100 pieces of good brass.

Another alternative is to fireform 8x68s brass. Rim is slightly smaller. There's a guide on youtube. The guy uses RWS brass.

If the RCC brass lasts the advertised 50+ reloads (of 50 cases), it'll last longer than the bbl. Which for a 300PRC is probably in the 1200-1800rnds. ~2500 reloads.

What's the chances ??? I mean if each piece went 50 reloads, quite possibly that price isn't so high. I'd definitely have to see or hear about that happening before investing. Typical long lasting brass to me is 10 reloads.

Where are you guys getting these ridiculous barrel life numbers? My 300 prc has 500 rounds down the barrel and looking at the throat there is no chance it will shoot under .5 moa past 1k and I don't shot competition. If you shoot a 90 plus H20 capacity cartridge with any frequency at all it is not going over 1k with any accuracy.

Look the Hornady brass is not great but it works. If you weight sort it will be good accuracy wise and you should get 3-5 firings. Yes you will need more over the life of the barrel than better brass but it also does not cost as much. Just get Hornady brass and not mess with making brass and if you feel the need when ADG comes out give it a try.

You are probably right, i don't have the experience. However, just ball parking bbl life based on most magnums of similar size. That said, if RCC Brass does last that long, it'll go past bbl life, which is my main point.

I am a little surprised that I have not seen a review on it. They contacted me but I don't want to be a guinea pig.
