30 x 47 Lapua

Bob,
Sorry, didn't mean to come off as a smart arse.
I was going to come back with a little more info, but got side tracked.
I see you got some good feed back on BRC.
My take is the 30x47 on the 6.5 brass is just another way to skin the 30x47 HBR cat. I laid in a supply of 308 Lapua brass a long time ago, so I personally haven't used the 6.5 brass. Using 308 is the hardest way, but I feel it's better than using Win. 300 Savage brass, although it's been used with great success by many. Depends on your reamer specs. also.
Now T/C has their 30 TC case. They make it sound like they "invented" the 1.850" case.
Depending on why your inquiring about the 30x47,if it's for Hunter bench, use the 6.5x47 brass, otherwise it's tough to beat the plain ole' 308.

'Yes,Hunter is my purpose. I have 300 unfired Basic URB's
and a supply of 6.5x47 Lapua's. My reamer design is up
in the air, while I decide which direction. I'm sure someone
has already got a 30x47 on the lapua case,so was looking for
a reamer design if it has been standardized wit die companies.

Canadian 30 cal. Barrel-maker and bench rest shooter Mick McPhee has been competing in ISSF matches with his 30X47 Lapua this last year. It is pretty sweet.

We built one over this side of the pond as soon as Brass was available and worked well in the test barrel. But because we dont have a limit on the case capacity for hunter/Class here i stayed with the 30BR Will probably use the 30X47L as a hunting rifle as the test barrel was a 14twist and shoots 130gr HP hunting projectiles very well at over 3,000fps.

I bought a rifle from the widow of David Bogan that was made for him about 25 years ago. It is a M77 Ruger that he was going to use for hunter class bench rest. It has a 25 inch heavy CM barrel and is in 30X47 CBC, that is what is stamped on the barrel. It came with a trim and FL size die made by RCBS in 1975 that has marked on the dies 7.62X47-BR-1 . I got some cases that had been made from WW 300 Savage and some nickel Federal match made from 308 with the necks turned. This rifle was not shot over 50 times, and that done with cast bullets from the records I got with the rifle, before David became ill and died latter. This rifle will shoot. It has a long throat so that you do not need to seat the bullet into the case to take up powder room. It was meant most likely to shoot the 168 Sierra Match King that was THE match bullet back then. I have been using this rifle to deer hunt with the last two years. It likes 42 grs. IMR 4895, Fed 210M primer, a case made from Federal nickel match 308 and a 150 Sierra Prohunter for a deer hunting load. For a target load it loves 41 grs. Varget CCI BR-2 Federal nickle match 308 case, 168 Sierra Match King. Does anybody have any information on this caliber?
