30 cal bullets

whats what in 30 cal bullets? i have a 300 norma in the works, im getting ready to send the brass for to get the reamer made and need to narrow down the bullets.
its been a while since ive looked into bullets. whats good in higher bc bullets say 180 and up?

All great bullets. I shot 215s for a few years then moved to the 208ELDMs bc I could buy 3 boxes for the price of 2 Bergers and the 215s are harder to find than the 208s. the 208s and 215s are very close in BC and performance in my rifle.
The Atips are just ridiculous as far as BC goes but a little high when you shoot ~300 rounds a month IMO.
Buy Litz's book that has all the profiles in it. It is great. You want something with a 7-8 degree boat tail ideally if your are going to shoot ELR.
Good luck

I picked up a box of 215 bergers at the last williamsport match. I started my sorting routine and they all were measuring within +- .001". Oal has some differences but I'll fix that. I bought every last one he had of them lol. The 6.5 140 hybrids were the same way. The bullets coming out of berger since the move all seem to be pretty spot on for factory bullets. IMO

whatcha doing with the rifle ??? LR target ??? Hunting ??? both ???

215's are stupid popular with big 30's.

Hornady has a new line of bullets... A-Tips (Aluminum Tip) with very high BC's. 30 cal 230 a-tip has a .414 G7 (.823 G1) BC. and the 300 Norma with 26" barrel should send them at 2,900 fps. But you need a 9" twist stick.

At the advice of Matt Kline ( Williamsport record holder ) to shoot out of my 300wsm is the Berger 210 VLD Hunting. They are working out great ( thanks Matt ). Easy to tune and can be found at "reasonable" prices now and then. If they worked out for you, you would be set for both target & field.....Best of luck with your new build...

Rick

IF your throated long enough I’d also consider trying the Berger 230’s.
The OTM Tactical will stabilize in a 1-10” twist. And the 230 hybrids may shoot well also, but a 1-9” may be the best bet for the 230 hybrid.

And as was stated, the 215 is an excellent choice as well.

The 230 Berger is an under rated bullet. I have shot them side by side vs the 215 at the same velocity at 1k. The difference in wind drift is much more than you would think by comparing the bc. In the Norma improved you can push a 215 faster than I really like to run them for hunting. I push the 230 at 3050 fps in my Norma improved with H1000.
