30 BR Robinette Specs

I've just chambered a 30 BR with a Robinette reamer from Pacific Tools. Can anyone help me with the reamer specs and more specifically how much neck turning I should do?

Isn't the neck diameter etched on the reamer? Randy's reamer spec is .330" neck, but others have used .332". You should contact Kiff and get the chamber print.

If its a .330" neck turn the brass so you have a .010" wall thickness then your loaded round should measure .228" I have found that if i set my Sinclair neck turner to the original brass at the neck skim right down the neck removing the Donut then set at .010" or even .0095" put a .010" feeler guage between the cutter and Mandrel and make it tight. My first attempt when i started wasn`t good and i left the necks a bit thick as i rushed and didn`t check and result was i was tearing the jacket on the projectiles take your time and do it right.
Is so much easier if you have to neck turners so you can have them set and leave them alone.

Bob, Kodiak & Wayne, thank you very much for the advise - I really appreciate it. I'm busy with the cases and will let you know how it goes.

ChrisNam, wich 30BR dies are you using with your 30BR chamber by 30BR Robinet reamer?
Are the 30BR dies from Redding made with the same dimensions?

Chrisnam,
What projectiles and powder are you going to use and if you seat them so they are about.015 into the lands it will shoot great if the load is right.

Chris, did you receive my e-mail? Should you opt for longer/heavier bullets, for your sub-sonic loads,I'm assuming cast bullets of 165 Gr. or more), you'll probably need 0.150" or more free-bore. For bullets featuring ogive configurations of less than a,tangent)9 caliber radius, and made with jackets of 1.00" or longer, I don't believe you'll be happy with the short,ZERO)free-bore of the "Robinett" version of the 30BR. The ZERO free0bore is perfect for 7-8 ogive bullets based upon the .925" jacket length and for ten ogive bullets based upon the 1.00" long jacket; 1.00" long seven [tangent] ogive bullets still shoot well, but use up a lot of powder "space"! ;)R.G.

Bob, I'm first going to try the 110 & 125 Bergers. I would love to try the 118 Bibs, but it is unfortunately not available over here. We basically only have 4 powders, S335,fast), S355,medium fast), S365,medium) and S385,slow) and then a couple of pistol/revolver powders,of which I have little knowledge). I presume I will first try approx 30gr of the the fast burning S335 and then either back down or increase the loads. I will let you know.

Mr Robinett, I have not received your mail - I will really appreciate it if you will resent to croets@mweb.com.na. I presumed that the Robinett would not do well with subsonic loads, but hopefully I will obtain MOA at 50 - 75m. I'm first going to try 155 & 168 Sierras, easily obtainable over here) and presume that the powder capacity will be sufficient even if the bullets protrude a bit far into the case????
I however ordered the reamer for use in my 26 inch 1:17 twist Border barrel with 110/118gr bullets and in the second 22 inch 1:13 twist Palma barrel with 125gr bullets. I do not fully understand the technical info given by you, but will appreciate your advise and really hope the barrels will perform well in both the primary & secondary applications.
