30 BR info needed please

Hello everyone I am looking at possibly buying a
30 BR built on a savage competition action so my questions are as follows

1. Can you just neck up 6BR brass

2. Is there multiple 30 BR variants since it’s a wildcat I think are their more than 1 kind?

3. Dies recommended?

4. Any idea where a guy could find brass

Thank you for the info and your time

you need to know your chamber dimensions to answer question #1. If you have a .332 or bigger chamber, you "MIGHT" be able to just neck it up, however I would still do a skim turn on the neck as the shoulder will become part of the neck when forming.

there are several variants. The most common is the .330 neck and 1.520" chamber.

as far as dies, there are several options. I prefer the harrels sizing die and the wilson seating die.

Brass can be had by several folks. I make it (but I have my shop packed up as I am moving to a new shop). Search on here for Blacksheep or DJ's brass service. They can take care of you.

Yes necking up 6BR brass is the normal procedure

Yes more than one variant.

Harrells builds these dies along with Wilson and Redding also builds dies as well

The best approach is to make your own brass. If the brass is done correctly it will last many firings. One prominent long time and winning S R bench rest shooter said at over 7400 rds, down his barrel he was still using the same brass as he started out with in that barrel. I have brass with 21 firings on it that still feels and looks as good as it did when I began shooting my 30BR some years ago.
