30 BR brass

Getting ready to buy my 30 BR cartridges. Of course there is the Lupua 6BR route, but I saw some Rem 7mm BR. I thought that this would be less tramatic in the sizing up process. Problem is, don't know or haven't read of anyone doing this. Not to mention, it is Remington brass and didn't say anything about primer size. What do you think.

According to the 30 BR cartridge guide on this website, 7 BR Rem brass could cause sizing problems. I have no trouble sizing 6 BR Lapua to 30 cal when using a K & M tapered expander and a GOOD sizing lube as detailed in that guide. Sizing problems just sap the fun out of this sport.

There is a good reason that every single competitive 30BR shooter that I have ever known uses the Lapua instead of Remington. You would be wise to follow that example. FYI, I have a custom 22BR varmint rifle that I originally used the Remington brass for. Since I had quite a lot of the Lapua brass on hand, I decided to try some in my varmint rifle. Groups shrunk about 50%. That convinced me for sure.

From what I have read and heard, if you go the Remington route the 7mmBR brass is better than the 6mmBR brass. The Rem brass uses the small primers, but have larger flash holes. Another choice is Norma brass. I would say out of them all the Lapua brass is the best.

I have never had a problem with the 6BR brass being stressed. I mostly fireform my brass, and if they dont split neck, or have problems that way then they will not.

Thanks for all the info, very helpful. It was just a thought. I use the Lupua for my 6 BR, so I guess I will stick with that or just buy preprepped Brass.

Thanks again
Tom
