30 Boo Boo

i shoot 1000yd i.b.s. and a friend and GREAT COMPETITOR shoots one in heavy gun, scott fletcher. other than its tough to beat i cant tell you anymore about it.

210 Berger vld, should be just over 3000 fps, barrel life well a friend has over 800 rounds through his and is still very accurate, which I've seen and shot.

I shoot the McHale stock, I like it.
Its made for actions with the benchrest tang, not Remington and Winchester actions. Like the Nesika J, some Bats. I am sure you have already researched this. Hope this helps

I am pretty sure that Fletcher shoots Tooley's .338 Yogi. Based off of the .338 LM

Yes the case taper is reduced quite a bit, the original diameter at the shoulder is .478 and the Booboo is slightly above .500, and using a 40° deg shoulder instead of the 17° that is on the original 8x68 case design.
Case capacity is 90 grains + somewhere, it will also depend on what brass manufacturer you choose RWS, Norma or Horneber.

The European 30 Kovacs is altered even more for extra case capacity, and the other wildcat designs have varying degree of case taper reduction, and 30,35,37 or 40 degree shoulders so there is a bit of difference in capacity in all the similar designs.

If your really interested the Booboo is proprietary to Dave Tooley, and if you inquire he will gladly give you some solid information on it.

I do not own one yet, is the first thing on the list when the Shehane is finished at the start of next year. So i have only done some basic research on the design

The .30 Boo Boo is Dave Tooley’s proprietary cartridge. The Boo Boo has a 30° Shoulder! Reagan Green’s .30x68 Valkyrie has a 35° Shoulder. Charles Ellertson’s .30 ET has a 40° Shoulder. My proprietary cartridge on the 8x68s is the .30x68 Thor 40° Shoulder. I have both Norma and RWS brass. The weigh exactly the same and have not seen any softness in the Norma. 31” 12 Twist Broughton will run the Berger 210VLD to 3,090 fps. Capacity is 92.8 H2O.

Baron - How does case capacity and velocity of the Boo Boo compare with the 300 Ack.

Sorry I missed the velocity part of your question. My .300 Ackley cartridge is the .300 Atlas. W/ a 31” 11 Twist Krieger on a BAT M I was running 3,050 fps at the 2010 Nats… My Atlas is right around 105 gr, H2O. Same action w/ a 12 twist Broughton and the Thor 92.8 gr. H2O, I can get 3,050 fps with 4.5 gr. less powder (same lot).
