30 30 min oal and max length the same?

I am reloading for the first time…starting with 30 30 Winchester with a 150 grain Hornady interlock.

My die set says that the max length is 2.550….it also says for the round I am using min oal is 2.550….I read through my Lyman manual hoping to find something to help me understand but these two are not explained well…As I read it (being a newbie) that means to me there is absolutely NO wiggle room in length…what am I missing?

30-30 you are cycling through a lever gun (I assume) and COL is very important. Brass trim to 2.030 and you'll be crimping in the canalure. Playing with seating depth in that range in the canalure will make a difference in some guns. Crimp pressure makes a big difference. It shouldn't take a huge amount of crimp but I am assuming you are loading several in a tube mag at a time so you'll need to put some brass in the canalure and then test how ever your going to shoot to make sure the bullets don't get set back.

I shoot a 30-30 for CLA and have put enough rounds through 2 guns to firecrack the leades.... If you are careful with your loading and load development and the rifle is in reasonable shape you can get 2MOA all day long out of them. ;)
