30-30 load data for a 160 gr L RNFP bullet

I have a Marlin 336 and have been shooting (plinking) Chey-Cast 165 gr cast lead RNFP bullets with this load: Trail Boss 8.0 gr at 2.520 coal

I would like to try some other powders for this bullet. I have several loading manuals including the Lymans lead bullet book. I can't find much that matches this bullet.

Hodgdon shows a load for a 160 gr cast LFN using H4895. I don't believe in just mixing up some loads because it LOOKS similar.

Lyman shows a 170 gr bullet with Unique at 7-10.6 gr

Does anyone have any experience with this type of coated lead bullet in a 30-30? Or maybe a loading manual I don't have.

I have these powders:

Trail Boss
H4895
Bullseye
Unique
Titegroup
Clays
Varget
CFE223
Lil-Gun
W748
HP38

Best thing you can do is go onto castboolits website..

If you like, I can run the #'s in Quickload for you but I"ll need the Bullet length and your desired FPS to make a custom bullet profile.

That’s good advice in reply #2.

Trail Boss is hard to get, I’m down to 8.5 pounds. One of my favorite powders for reduced loads.
