30-06 to 280 rem

i want to be able to use lapua brass in my 280rem so i would like to know how difficult it is to neck down 30-06 brass to 280rem and what steps i would need to take to make that happen

You can make 280 Rem brass by running 30-06 into your FL sizing die. Be aware though, that the '06 brass will leave you with a shorter neck,-.097") and short case length,-.046"). Also, you need to be careful and resize only until you get a crush fit because you will be moving the shoulder forward also and will need to fire-form the cases.

What is wrong with Norma and/or other 280 brass? I use both Norma and Rem and the quality is OK.

You can also use RWS brass, but as said Norma brass is also good.

i only have my eyes set on lapua because i can buy it from powder valley for $65 for 100 where the norma through midwayusa is in the $90 range so if it was relitivly easy to do i would just form them from 06. and heck it gives you yet another reason to go out shooting
