30-06 or 30-06 Ackley & RL-17

Has anyone used RL-17 in the '06 with 175-210 grain bullets? If so...can you please elaborate on your results?

I have some on order for it based upon the advice of a guy from another forum. He turned me onto the RL22 and 208 Amax combo last year, which I get 2875 fps in a 26" barrel from a regular -06. I'm loading Win brass, Wolf Mag primers and a 59.5gr mildly compressed load with the bullet 0.010" off the lands.

His RL17 tests in a 22.5" barrel (his rifle is shortened up for hunting) and he picked up about 75 fps on the 208's. IIRC he went from very low 27's to almost 2800fps.

I'm hoping I'll get a similar response and be getting 2925-2950 from it. No need for a 300 WM at that point.

Go the post by M 98 dated 24 Dec 2009. Daniel has a mate who works for ADI and is a ballistics lab tech. His pressure numbers are right on as they are tested in the ADI lab.
