.30-06 195 ELD with Superperformance Powder?

Hi all!

I’ve been reloading for the .30-06 for some time. I’m trying to take advantage of the newer, higher BC bullets and some good weight to carry well for targets out to the caliber’s full potential.

The ‘-06 is waiting for its new, 26” Shilen barrel in Sendero contour now. It should be a quick couple of months.

I was able to find some Superperformance powder and some 195 ELD’s.

I see a lot of info on this powder on line, but no reloads specific to this recipe.

In an attempt to load to a node, my estimation is that I should be able to find a tight grouping load at about 2650 FPS (+/- 30)

Does anyone have any reload recipes or some software to predict if this is a likely outcome?

Hornady must have JUST added Superperformance to their load app on the iPhone. I SWEAR there was nothing on Superperformance for that weight 10 days ago. Under 195 grains it says max 57.7 for 2700 FPS out of a 23 3/4” barrel.

I wonder if the 26” be more than 2750 at that max?

I've never tried superformance powder myself, so I'm going to be of no help there, or with the 195's they are on my radar tho.
I do however shoot a 30-06 26" Krieger that I had throated long .160 freebore to shoot up to 200gr bullets without worry of donuts or compressed loads.
I've tuned 2 loads with berger 185gr jugs,
H4350 =2850fps IMR4955 =2840fps
From my experience I believe you'll find a good node higher than the 2650 estimate you have for a 26"barrel.
Looking at burn speed charts and hogden data..
Hogdens data has IMR4955 pushing a 190gr at 2700 24" barrel your 5gr heavier but have 2" more barrel to make up the difference.
Out of curiosity I cracked my Hornady load manual, 57.7gr superformance 2700fps
I believe you'll find yourself in the mid 2700's.16092696112528324731097306194872.jpg
I personally would probably start around 56gr charge and work up a OCW test in .3 increments.
Good luck and please keep us informed.
