I have some Hornady 165 Interlock SP and some 165 Nolser Solid Base SP.
Looking to load these in a 30-06 factory Savage 22“ Sporter Barre.

Looking for any pet loads out there.

I have H and IMR 4895, Varget, IMR 4831,N160 and N165

The old Hornady 3d edition lists 60.8 grain Winchester 760 as max load and 51.7 grain as starting load. I've used this in many 30-06 bolt rifles, do not use in a Garand. The 24" and 26" barrels make it sing. It's a bit gummy compared to single based powders and I stick with magnum primers.

IMR 4831 starts at 54.5 and tops out at 60.1 grain and I've used that also and it worked well but not as well as 760 in the 22" barrels. Standard LR primers light 4831 up well for me.

From the list of what you have, I’d try IMR 4831 & N160.
I have been using H4350 with the 168 Bergers in an 06 and it shoots very well along with being pretty insensitive to temps.

When I shot the old great 06, the 165-grain bullet was my favorite all around bullet for deer / bear. A little heavy for eastern white tail but excellent for black bear. Having one bullet that will do both is a clear advantage.

Regarding loading, unquestionably for me, IMR 4350 produced the best groups of anything I tried with this bullet weight along with excellent terminal performance.

IMR 4895 is a little fast for this bullet weight but with careful load development it can work but most likely will not yield optimum velocity / terminal performance on game. I did shoot some impressive groups with this powder but at a reduced velocity.

While I never tried it in the 06, IMR 4831 is closer to IMR 4350 and might work better than IMR 4895. I have no experience with "N" powders.

55.1gr imr4350 165gr bt sierra
56gr Varget barnes 130ttsx 2.6165"bto
50gr imr4895 ber 168 classic hunter 3.34"oal
50gr imr4064 barnes 168ttsx
57.5gr imr4350 barnes 168ttsx

These are my hunting loads in sako 3006. I load for accuracy.

Thanks for the feedback
I think I am going to try to put my hands on some other powder. I still have some time before the gun is done

Big fan of 4831 burn rate in ‘06 with the projectiles you have on hand. It’s kissing cousin on the burn rate chart with Reloder powders, 60.5 RL19 is a favorite of mine.

For general deer hunting, I’m partial to 150 grain Nosler ballistic tips. Launched at 3000 fps, they are accurate & hold up good out to 400 yards and then the heavier bullets take over. I have not run them over the chrono yet but Stabll6.5 and 150 grain Sierras also shot really well.

For nosler bullets just go to their website....
