30-06 @ 1000yds

is a 30-06 capible for 1000yds or is around 700-800yds max.

Hi if you have a 12 twist barrel you can shoot the 175gr sierra to 100o yards abd a faster 10 twist barrel you can shoot 210gr bullets right out to 1200 yards. you will have to watch your case length and use good cases but 100 Lapua cases as they hold pressure well use H4350 and try the 175 and 190gr Sierra first if you like try the 210gr Sierra aswell and shoot the one that shoots the best. If you try a 190gr bullet you can try H4831SC aswell. Here in Australia we are just making up 3 30-284's to do just that and they have a similar case capacity. If you are going to build one go a 30-06AI as the 40 degree shoulder will be better

I used to use a Savage BVSS repeater in 30-06 for 1000 yard matches. I used the Sierra MatchKing 190 gr. bullets and IMR 4350 with WInchester cases, Federal GMM rifle primers.

This combination did well, but was limited by the Savage barrel fouling. You should have no problems getting 1000 yards with a good 30-06 and 175-190 gr. bullets.

I use a 30-06 for getting out to 1000 yards. I am using a Broughton 5C 1/12 barrel that is 28" long. Using either Lapua or Winchester cases and a 175 gr SMK with 56 grs of H4350 has worked well. I have also started shooting some with the 155 gr Lapua Scenar. Results look good, but testing has only been to 200 yards so far.

I shot my first 1000 yarder at perry this past june with a 30-06.
droped a score of 192-3x, I would say fair for my first time at 1k.
210 moly berger VLD in a krieger barrel, 53grs H4350, Federal GM case and a CCI lrg rifle BR primer.
I plan on shooting the 07 whimbeldon at perry with it
