2nd Focal Plane-vs-Rear Focal Plane

Same thing?, or did something new sneak into the optics world????

Would guess that it is the same thing. Only "new" thing I learnt the other day is that there are scopes that have both first and second focal plane reticles ( one part of the reticle grows with magnification, while the other part stays at the same magnification).

Same thing. Just 2 different ways of describing where the focal plane is.
First is front.
Second is rear.
