Hi folks , going to build a new rifle , after reading up and checking posts here the calibre I have picked is the 284 Shehane , can someone give me the best specs to build this , ie , barrel twist , length, etc

What is the intended purpose of your build? BR, F-Class, hunting, etc?

Sorry F class , was also thinking of a Barnard action model PC

Build on any action that will take a Jewell trigger. I prefer F-Class Panda actions because I never have to be without a rifle to have barrel chambered (they all headspace the same). The action is aluminum and has a large bedding area. Due to its light weight, you can use 1.250" straight barrels up to 32" long with just about any stock and scope you choose and still make weight.

Assuming you want to shoot the longer ranges you might consider the Berger 180gr pills. They would require a barrel twist of 9"minimum, mines 8 1/2" and 28" for a straight .284W and gives velocities near 2800fps.

I can confirm their delivery times are 6 weeks... or a bit less.
