.284 win velocity w/ 180 Berger Hybrid

Jsimonh. around 51gns of H4350 is a popular sort of powder charge with 180gn bullets jammed into the lands. This will give around 2810-2860 fps with a 30" barrel.

Has anyone done a comparison of H4831sc and H4831? I couldn't find any SC so I went with the H4831. I am hoping I will get more case fill and hopefully a smaller ES, but that might just be wishful thinking. :-\

My .284 with 180 Berger Hybrid seems to have a node around 2830-2850, wich I achieve with 49.5-50gr H-4350 or 56gr H-4831sc, running 32" 1:9 Bartline. Does a hair better with same charges using Barts Gungnir's. See 200yd target below.20211229_021110.jpg20211229_021151.jpg

Rel 17 gives great velocities and accuracy when I tried it..
I too steered away from it from hearing about barrels shooting out prematurely so I went back too N165
52.5grs Rel 17 is near max in testing in my 26 inch strait taper bartlein pushed a 180gr hybrid gave in excess of 2900fps..
My 284 has done 2200 shots now and still shoots good..
I tried the rel 17 load a few months ago for a change.. looked up in records what I used and it shot really well.. It scored better than the 180gr ELDM load I used in the next cof.
The eldm load was on N160 and shooting 100fps or more slower.
I changed from N165 to N160 with the 180gr eldms as it was faster and just as accurate

8 year old thread so pretty sure the guys have it figured out. Regardless, I get over 3k with 180s in a 30" barrel with RL17. Back to running H4831 because of it's accuracy. The extra minute and a half at 1000 doesn't bother me. The 3" larger spread does. I do run the RL17 in my short action 284 with 162s at 3000 also in a 25" barrel with excellent accuracy.

OK thanks..
I didn't look at the date on the thread..
I thought there had been a recent reply putting the thread near the top that's why I replied.
I use my 284 for hunting aswell as 1000yds snapshooting..
My hunting load is 162gr eldx's on about 54.8grs of N160 for just over 2900fps
No H4831sc on the shelves here anymore as goes for alot of the hodgdon powders as there not R.E.A.C.H compliant.
I'd imagine most would be running out of it and H4350/H1000 which I run my 7mm 270 on.
Varget was really popular here

4350 is great also.

Never got to try H4350 in my 7mm's.
I have 2 f open rifles.
A 7mm saum which runs on N165 with mainly 184gr hybrids and a 7mm 270 that runs on H1000 and mainly 180gr hybrids.
Incidentally we're running out of the hybrids here...
None making it across the water and nobody knows when any are likely to make it.
I'm sure quite a few including myself will have enough in stock one way or the other to last next year. I know some who could run out and may have to switch to scenars or smks.
The 215s are probaly the most wanted by the f open lot and 200s by the ftr lot.

My Savage PTA w/a 28" Criterion barrel using Norma 284 brass w/54grs of H4831SC under a Berger 180 Hybrid yields 2825 fps for me, will shoot
.5 moa under good conditions at 1K when I got my act together.

Kelbly Panda .284 with Krieger 30" 1:9 barrel using 180 hybrids in Norma brass with 54.0g of H4831sc gives me 2775fps at sea level.
