284 Win. Peterson brass load data

I’ve tried to find some info on this but haven’t had any luck. I know load data has been discussed for the 284 win before, but haven’t seen anything specifically with Peterson brass and H4350.

I’m building an F-open gun in 284, I plan to start with H4350 and CCI BR2’s to try and find a good load. I have Peterson brass and know that it generally has less case capacity. I was curious if anybody has any experience with this combo so I can have an idea where to start when I do my break in and initial testing? I know I’ll have to tune it to my gun. But wanted to make sure I was in a good range when I’m doing my break in.

I have had great luck with 50.5 grains of H4350 and BR-2 primers when using Peterson brass in two of my .284's. This load runs right at 2800 -2810 and is very accurate. No signs of pressure and case life is still good after 5 firings.

Uuummmmm.....
What bullet are you people using?
Before we give out powder loads without knowing the weight...
Or the weight of the bullet to powder loads given out already....

Yes sorry, always gotta leave atleast one detail out. Gonna be running the 180 hybrids in a 1-9 twist 31 or 32 inch barrel. Just trying to get as much length and stay under weight

Sorry about that - 180 Berger Hybrid - 8.75 twist 4 groove barrel - 32"

Thank You!
I feel better now. ;)

Alas, my 284 is a hunting rifle. Heaviest i've run is the 168gr Bergers. And the SAAMI reamer has a TON of freebore! So my rifle doesn't like those.

Best of luck to you!!

I run Peterson brass but mine is a Shehane and I use 2213SC (H4831SC). If it's a straight 284 I'd definitely start with H4350 and see what it tells you. Brass on my Shehane is holding up extremely well, with cases 9 times fired and primer pockets tight. My primary reason for the Shehane was less pressure and ease of extraction, which so far is working well.

Wow,I run Peterson brass,fed primer 49.5 h4350 @ .025=jump and my garmin clocks it at 2800-2805…30 inch 8.5 bartlein,180 hybrids
