284 reamer print

I'm going to be changing over from 6.5-284 to a straight .284 for F open.
Being Norma brass is available and GOOD 7mm bullets are abound.
If someone would be so kind and would be willing to share a reamer print so
I can get a reamer on order. I would like a no turn neck and throat for 180 Bergers.
anyone willing to share this info ? It would be greatly appreciated .
also is anyone experimenting with different throat angles or is everyone staying with
the 1 1/2 degree ?

Thank you , Ken

I use this one from PT&G, it's perfect in my 284 just as it is.

so that print looks like a standard SAAMI chamber with the 323 neck. If that's the way I read it, that's what mine is chambered for and its a Criterion savage prefit. It shoots very well with that chamber and you'll never have to cut necks with that extra neck dimension.

Might want to make sure you tell PT&G you plan to use Norma brass. When selecting a reamer for my .284 I had to match it to Lapua vs. Win brass due to the variances at the base dimensions. I don't know where Norma brass falls in that range.

norma brass, according to the reports is a bit thicker, so go with a .321-.323 neck for a no neck turn. this should give you 5-7K neck clearance.

for the FB, I would stick around 0.220-0.235. I had a 0.188 FB reamer and had to use a unithroater to increase my freebore so I can run the 180 hybrids above the donut region and to be able to jump the bullet. I use a .235 FB for my 284 Shehane now and I like it a lot.

I Pm'ed Shraz, I take it he is going to look into the proper reamer for this brass. Said he didn't know if the reamer he was using is right for Norma brass. I wish Bullets.com would stock this reamer.

If you want a no neck turn, it looks like you will need a .320 minimum neck. all other dimensions should be the same.

As soon as the brass hits the WA warehouse in the next couple of days we will do up a drawing and I will post it here for all to see. Also, we will be checking the reamer specs against the brass and will be able to give more solid information about that as well.

Thanks.

Also, it appears that the PTG Reamer we sell will work with this brass on a no turn neck.
