284 neck sizing ?

This is my first venture in bushing dies and neck turning, I would like to have some feed back on how to proceed. The UPS man brought me a redding S type die, a Wilson seater die and a box of 180 hybrids. I have assembled a neck turning kit and have been experimenting using some spare 243 brass. Brass I will be using is new Norma 284, i have both standard and over sized mandrels. My question/s will only concern the 284
I have yet to decide to neck turn or not. the chamber is supposed to be .320 but the action is still at the smith. measured neck thickness is .016 +/- .0005. I have one case that I skim cut to .014. loaded dimensions are .315 and .312 respectivley with .0015 tension on both. I have read on another post that a few 284 shooters prefer more tension, in the .003 range. I would like to hear some opions on this please.
Redding says to subtract .001/.002 from the loaded dimension to determin bushing size but again I am unsure of the amount of tension.
The rifle is a 700 L/A blue printed, .320 chamber, 8.5 twist HV. will be used for 600 and 1000 yd matches. I've been working night shifts so for me its late and Im starting to feel a little punchy so ill end this for the moment, as allways gentilmen thanks for the support and sugestions! E

I have the same action and brass setup you do. I have only had the rifle for a few months and I was told by the guy I got it from that it has "...a no turn .317 neck." and the rounds I'm loading chamber easily. I'm still working on load development with 168 gr. VLD's so I can't be of much help there.
 
I have only one .284 and its a .317 nk (I'm using lapua brass necked up). I've heard that .284's like a little more neck clearence than most, .004-.005. I do not know and I've not tested closer so I can't confirm that closer is better but my loaded round is turned to a .312 so I'm running .005 neck clearence and my bushing is .309 so I have .003 neck tension. This combo is one the most accurate builds I've ever done. It is such a great easy tuning/forgiving gun that I'm thinking of doing another. I'm not saying this is gospel but it is a hammer for me. My brass is on the 4th loading and still good but I can't confirm if oversizing will hurt the life of the brass with .005 clearence (thats the most I've ever ran) I personally would turn my brass for a loaded round of .004 clearence (.316 for your chamber) and get a .313-.315 bushing to try out also I would return the neck die and get a FL bushing die that fits my chamber.

Thanks for the reply. At a loaded dimension of .315 I would be at .005 clearance, the brass has a fairly uniform thickness so I'm leaning towards not neck turning, at least for the moment.
I have been searching around the net and have seen more than a few people running .003 neck tension so I will start with that for the initial load development.
The die I just got is an S type Redding die not strictly a neck die, sorry for the mixup
