284 Freebore

Hey folks,
I'm working on a 284 Win on a Surgeon SA Repeater. So, I will be loading light,140 - 160gr) hunting bullets to magazine length,2.80). What would my freebore be to land me .002 off the lands? From what I've been reading moast guys are shooting 175 to 180gr VLD's and running about .175 freebore.

By far the best thing for you to do is to load up a dummy round with your specified bullet seated exactly as you like. Send the dummy round to your reamer grinder with your other specs. If you don't do this, you are making a leap of faith which could ruin your new build -- been there and done that.
