284 Finish Reamer Specs

Looking to build a straight 284 for using Peterson or Lapua brass and shooting 180 gr Hybrids. I think I'm settled on a .3185 no turn neck and .235 freebore but curious what base diameter you guys recommend? .501? Any other useful info in regards to reamer dimensions and resize die would be helpful. Thanks

I suggest a .319” or .320” neck for no turn using Peterson or Norma brass. Too little clearance will hurt more than a little extra. A base diameter of .5010” worked fine with both of the above makes of brass.

This ^ . I’ve used a .320 all the way for no-turn no matter the brass. I’ve used it with Lapua, ADG and Peterson. As Robin said, I’d rather have too much than too little on the neck.

I went with a .321 neck for Peterson brass, no neck-turn. Work perfectly and gives me 4-5 thou neck clearance.
