.284 build RUCKUS LA

This is an initial setup from a gunsmith:
- DEFIANCE RUCKUS LA RH STAINLESS 308 BOLT FACE
- JBIX'N ANDY PRO TAC
- KRIEGER or BARTLEIN NET 30-31" CYLINDER TYPE 5R 8 TWIST (from 1,25")
- MANSON COMPETITION (NO TURN - .312 or .316 or .318" NECK, .225 FREEBORE)
- MDT ACC BLACK LONG ACTION 3.75 " MAG WELL

a. I'm going to use 184's or 190's Bergers - Lapua brass, so I guess .225 is not enough ... Am I right?
b. twist 8" ? what do you think about it ? most of you are closer to 9" or 9" as I read
c. neck size ? I'm thinking .318, how does it relate to Lapua brass ?
d. MDT ACC 3.75 "? In all stores I found online, you can only buy 3.85". I don't understand this one at all :(

If you can help, I'll be thankful.

David

240 free bore and .319 neck works really well for me shooting Berger 180 Hyb and Lapua brass,
from a 32 inch Brux 1.250 straight taper 9 twist

I would go at least .319" for a no turn reamer for a .284. The .225" freebore will be fine for the 184 or 180 hybrid. It will be marginal for the 190 LRH but you will likely be using the other two choices after testing a few hundred of the 190's;). I know of no F-open shooters that have made them outshoot the other options using a .284. I can get them to shoot quite well in a 7 saum based case but they were not good in a .284. I would go with a 9tw.

I am not sure what you are asking about the MDT mag well, but your COAL will be close to 3.300 so any LA mag or mag well will easily accommodate the 284 round loaded with pretty much anything.

I have used 8, 8.5 and 9 twist barrels. I go for the faster twist in my tactical rifle. I shoot out to 2k with it and go for the faster twist for a better BC. In my F-open rifle, I have stuck with the 9-twist based on conventional wisdom that it has an accuracy edge. I cant confirm that but it shoots better than I do.

I take it to heart when you guys recommend a 9 twist or 8.7 for the 284 Win.
I notice a lot of stocking barrel dealers carry a lot of heavy 8 twist .284 barrels, what calibers are these built for?
The 8 twist barrels are probably for different bullets which require a faster twist rate e.g. Sierra, heavy Atips
