284 break in speeds....

during break in yesterday the barrell settled in after 15 rounds at 2700fps. load is 54gns H4831sc, 180 hy. norma brass, br-2, .010 jump, 30" 8.5tw krieger
does this sound about right for a new barrell? should I continue to shoot at this charge weight till I see the speed increase then start load development, thenks gentelman E

I am shooting the identical load that you are other than I am using federal 210m primers and a 9 twist 30 inch barrel. My velocity has remained very consistent at 2725 ft./s the barrel now has 550 rounds through it. I chronographed it at about the 50 round mark at this velocity and my elevation dope out to 1000 yards is consistent with this number.

54.5 gr. gives me 2,720 fps. with a 9 twist 32" long. 180 gr. SMK and Wolf LR primer. This load was used for fire forming 284 to Shehane brass and was very accurate.

Interesting,Though it seems I'm at least in the ball park. The 54gn load was used during break-in. Tomorrow I'll try 54,54.3,54.6 & 45.9. Thanks E

Yesterday at the range was clear,allmsot 0 wind and hot. I should've said in my original post that the conditions were overcast and slight wind, so I'm assuming the clear skys are the reason for the velocity increase. Yesterday the 54 gn load shot a 2762 avg. and the accuracy node of 54.6 shot at 2776. At the end of the day I shot up the 5 54gn sighters (twice fired) they came in at 2749
The once fired brass was prepped and ran through an turning mandrel and the once fired was prepped and ran through an S full length die w a .314 bushing. The once fired had .0025 neck tension compared to .002 on the new brass.
Anyway, I'm gonna continue on w the 54.6 load. As allways I'm open to ideas and suggestions. E
