Starting to build another. 284 Win. Was hoping to draw on the vast experiences of you all. The quandry is Shooting Berger 180 Hybrds.30 inch finished length.which twists are producers. B. Litz suggests 1:8 for best stabilization. But have read others getting good results with 1in 9. ????? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Will be 600 and 1000 yd.bench.
Thanks
Shawn

I shoot 1-9's and don't know if they are better or not. I just know they work.

I have never known Preacher man to give bad advice.

My 284 is a 28" 9 twist. 180 Hybrids leave the muzzle at 2850 fps and all holes on paper have been nice and round.

Both my .284 Win and .284 Shehane are 9" twist and provide excellent long range accuracy with 180 VLD and 180 Hybrid Bergers, both very long bullets. The 8.5" suggested by Preacher would not hurt anything. Berger is talking about delivering a 195 grain Hybrid this year that will likely require an 8" twist. So, the answer is 8" to 9", inclusive, depending. ;)
