.280 Remington - Optimum powder

Hey guys,

I am currently reloading for a very nice Remington 700 LSS Mountain Rifle. I just brought a box of 140gr Nosler Accubonds that I would to use as my main projectile.

I would like to get 3000 fps or a tad more and I know this is achievable out of a 22 inch barrel.

Powders I have on hand are H4350 and H4831. But I am keen to try Reloader 19 or Vitavohuri powders as well.

Which of the above powders are going to be my best bet?

My .280 is a 700 BDL-DM..found it new old stock,No production since 1999. My best load for hunting,White-tail) turned out to be the best group this guy can shoot. Rem once fired,prepped, sorted by weight, brass.Fed 215GM match primers,Reloader 19.
at 59.7 gr. Seated .005 off the lands. Shoots .211-.324 groups when I pay attention, off a old Hart ft rest with windage adj.and a protektor owl-eared rear bag @ 100yd. Shoots better than this old man can. Factory stock, non-floated barrel,all I did was set the trigger up for not creep, breaks clean at 14 oz.
Start 10% lower for the first load and work up...this .280 won't hold a group after about the 3-4 round, hot, because of the front bed pressure on the barrel. May free-float it, or better, put it in a B & C medalist stock. Hope this helps a little

Sorry, I forgot,to mention, the bullet is a Hdy 120grHP.I guess that might help...lol

Start with the H4350 with that shorter barrel. I would follow with RL19 based on what you have on hand. If you have the VV powder that is similar to H4350,VV540?), I would test that first actually. Just my thoughts. . . .

Starting with H-4350 is a good idea, the others mentioned will work too.
H-4350 has always seemed to be well taken to in most of the 7's I like to play with...
