Factory ammo or reloads?I'm new to this too, I have ran about 80 Remington 280 rounds through my AI, sighting it in, it shot very well. I've had a few Remington 280 rounds not go off on the first try, is it a light primer hit?
Yes I do, but they changed it to 7mm-06 before that for just a couple of month's late in 78, and by years end that's when they changed it to the 7MM Express Remington and that lasted until the beginning of 81. I bought a new Rem 700 BDL on March 22nd 1980. The reason I remember it so well it was on a Saturday and when I came home from the gunshop where I purchased it with my dad my mom told me that my best friend from high school died of kidney failure. He was 25. As far as the 280AI goes it's one of those cartridges that benefits very little over the std 280. Same with the 06AI. Big waste of time. Now the 257 Roberts AI is a different story. I still have that rifle. Took it Caribou hunting in Quebec in 97 and got 3 nice ones. Shoots just about an inch at 100 which is more than good enough for what it is.Anybody remember Remington's rebirth of their 280? They called it the ''7MM EXPRESS''
