He just sent me a picture of the back of the box. Shows bullet velocity/energy and drop. Pretty un-impressive for "extended range" ammo. Basically a flatbase core lokt type bullet. BC roughly .445. Muzzle velocity 2820. Kinda expected something comparable to Superformance numbers. Not what he's looking for. He wants it for elk at longer ranges. Still 47.50 per box. It's about all he can find right now.I do not know the particular bullet but I will say the batch I had shot very well for factory ammunition in the rifle I had at the time
I agree. For us hand loaders, the sky's the limit, especially if components are on hand. He isn't a reloader. 47.50 is ridiculous for a 20 rd box of ammo. Maybe it's fairly normal today but not normal to me.Extended range ammo in the 280 to me is Alliant PP4000, topped with a 150gr Nosler ABLR.
At 2,932 fps muzzle velocity, and G7 BC of 0.275, it gets downrange.
Also helping is expansion velocity of 1,300 fps vs 1,800 for the Corelokt.
