I had the 280AI, with Shilen Heavy Sporter Barrel, that what I thought after 6-8 rounds it was getting hot and causing bad groups and verticle groups. Took barreled action off stock and found a single scuff mark on the length of the alumminun bedding block caused by the action slightly moving back and forth. This was in a Bells and Carlson stock with the savage action bedding block installed by them. Found the radius of that was much larger than the diameter of the savage action. I bedded the action and now groups very good, about .5 moa at 100 yds. and holds poa 1-10 shots. Thanks for all the suggestions on how to correct this problem. I will be bedding all my rilfles from now on. On this one I just assumed the block was a pre-fit for the action and fit should be good. Thanks Greg
