280 AI Brass options. HELP

I need a high quality brass for 280 ai and I don’t want to use Nosler or Hornady. I’d really like to find someone that fire or hydro forms Lapua brass if possible. Any help or leads??

Not directly applicable but since Lapua bought Berger, some Berger brand ammo seems to have Lapua cases and Berger bullets.

It comes in loaded under the cost of components in 6.5 Creedmoor (with SRP brass). I think you could probably find .30-06 by Berger, fire it once and then convert to .280

It might make sense if you shoot .30-06 too.

Lapua makes 30/06 brass but 30/06 is shorter than 280 brass so if you had your gun built for reformed 30/06 you would be ok.
Before i started buying Nosler brass I fired Norma 280 Rem. brass in my chamber and it works fine. But I like the Nosler 280AI brass better.
I don't know of anyone that forms it.

Another option is to use Norma 280 Rem. Brass fire-formed.

If you want to go through the time, expense & trouble you could have your reamer spec'd with a 0.015 short neck and fire form Lapua 30-06 and you'd be using some of the very best brass. - OR you could use Nosler and its not that bad IF you don't push it to the top end.

your neck length will be about .050 short. I tried to use 30-06 in a 280 rem and that neck was .030 short. you really need a custom reamer with a short neck.

Norma 280, or depending on where you live you might still find 280 RWS brass if you are lucky. Can still find them over here in some places.

I fireform Norma 280 brass - it's decent. Hornady make 280AI brass and I have found that to be just as good as Norma too.

did you ever fire standard 280 rounds in your 280 AI? I heard from some guys they were accurate in the AI rifle. would like to hear from guys that tried that. Does Lapua make 280 standard brass?

Thakns for the replies guys. So im reading mixed reviews about turning 30-06 into 280AI. I don't want to shoot hornady brass I don;t think it is very good quality from my experience. If I;m gonna go through the trouble of creating a round I'd rather use Lapua

Bite the bullet and just buy the Nosler brass. Eliminate the need to fire form and waste barrel life not to mention your time with doing it. I love Ackley cartridges probably more than most and the best part about the .280 Ackley is that there are brass options available for it, although not many. Nosler brass in that caliber has been very good for me and given me all the performance I need with multiple firings.

Geco makes 280 Remington. If I am not mistaken they are a sister company or owned by Ruag. If so should make it good stuff

My friend had a 280 AI and I told him to form standard 280 brass. the rifle was so accurate not win a championship accurate with 280 ammo and seeing hardly any difference in performance between the two he just stayed with 280 Rem rounds. it was a savage long range hunter rifle very accurate

Lapua doesn't make 280 brass and fireforming 280 brass into 280AI is very accurate - I've shot clean in local F-class matches at 800 metres fireforming with Berger 168gr vlds.

I was told at some point that the Nosler brass was made by Norma. I have never had any issues with the quality.

Thank you that is exactly what I wanted to know. My friends Savage long range hunter 280 AI shot tiny groups with 280 Rem ammo. we never went that far but at 500 yds I loaded hornady 162 A-Max and it was around 3 1/2 inches. not bad for the first load
