280 Ackley, Krieger or Bartlein

Considering a new custom build in 280 Ackley Imp 40 deg. I have always used Krieger barrels but Bartlein offers an 8.4 twist which may be better suited to the new 168gr Accubond Long Range projectile over a 9 twist. Your thoughts and opinions on the ctg and differences in Krieger and Bartlein barrels will be appreciated. To me it looks like it's a std bolt face, no belt, almost magnum.

I love my bartlien. they can make you any twist rate you want.
An 8.437 twist ? OK . Takes a long time to get 1 ordered, but worth it

A 9 twist will stabilize a 180gr VLD, I cant imagine it not stabilizing any 168gr bullet.

1 in 10" is perfect for the 168 VLD's. The pictures below are 2 different loads I found for a Thompson Center Venture 7mm Rem Mag hunting rifle with a 24" 1 in 10 twist 5R rifled barrel. 3 shot groups at 100 yards with zero barrel cooling time between shots. Can't get much better than that.

Sometimes too slow or too fast of a twist for the bullet you intend to shoot can actually hinder the accuracy of that particular bullet. That's why Berger puts "1 in 10 TWIST" right on the label for the 168gr VLD's. As you can clearly see by my pictures, Berger knows exactly what twist works best for those bullets ;)

Measurements of the groups are "Center to Center" of holes/greatest spread.

Both Krieger and Bartlein will make you any twist you want. But you should not need anything faster than 1:9" twist.
