OK Big Bob Go for the .280 AI I have one and just really like it . It shoots in the .2-.3 with a load of 63 grains of Retumbo and a 168 grain Berger Hunting VLD and with this combo I'm set for anything up to a Grizzly as it drops them where they stand. I don't know about where you are located but you could buy a long action Rem. and send it to a number of places like Classic Barrel works in Prescot AZ. or Pac-Nor up in Oregon but get what you want I just don't understand why they would suggest a .270 when the regular .280 beats that and with the .284 diameter you have a wrath of selection of bullets . You can call Kenny Jarrett of Jarrett Rifles. Pretty sure he still has a 280AI reamer. He makes a great gun too.

My 280 AI is a TC Encore, and is flatter shooting than 7mm rem mag.
