.28 Nosler

I am currently building a short barreled (16”) 28 Nosler and I am looking for any info on velocities using 180 and 195 class bullets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What powder are you plan on using.

Help? Add at least eight inches to the barrel. How much of that 86 grains of powder do you think will burn in 16"?

Don't build a 16" 28nosler, build a 16" 7-08 or something like that. your going to be wasting powder for nothing because its not going to be enough barrel to burn all the powder like Hogpatrol has already said.

I love my 7-300 win specialty pistol, I've used it to kill my farthest big game and prairie dogs a long ways off. I know a guy with a 28 nosler SP and a 7 Dakota SP, lots of fun!!

All you naysayers must have not considered the capabilities of 16-20" barreled pistols. For you steel shooters, don't laugh too loud when a guy shows up with a 223 pistol and makes you all look like fools at 1000 yds.

Personally I'd go 18-20" barrel, but there ain't a 7-08 rifle on this planet that can push a 195 anywhere near the speed a 28 Nosler will in a handgun. As been said until the 28 was introduced, the 7 Dakota was and still is a popular caliber in specialty handguns.

He might have something. Buy a long barrel and cut it in half. 2 for the price of one and they double as flame throwers. That's four for the price of one.

Wyoming mid day HOT and windy, plate is at 2640.
Front to back 28 Noz, 7-300, 7 Dakota, 6.5 284. Fun day

(from another post) No, but the 7SAUM can do the same as the short barrelled nosler with a lot less powder and full burn and get the same or close velocity. Having said that, even it it doesn't make sense, go for it.
