28 Nosler & Reloader 33

I keep reading that reloader 33 is the ticket for the 28. I just picked up a couple of pounds and looking for some real-world experience. Is it temperature stable? I ask because people seem to love Reloader 26 as well but I have encountered nothing but pressure issues with it when dealing with a warm barrel or warmer ambient temperatures. I am in Arizona with summer temps near 110 most of the summer and I don't want any issues. I have done a couple of 28s in the past and have used Retumbo with good results but it seems I am leaving about 100-200 fps on the table when compared to the R33 loads I see posted. I am wanting to run the 195 Bergers or 180 Hybrids.

Do a search. A few powders work but yes, velocity is less than when using RL33. I haven't used it past 80 degrees though.

Just curious, what are you shooting a 28 Nosler at in those temps? My 28s are hunting rifles and I load and shoot in the temps I expect to have when hunting. My barrels are a Sendero and a #5 fluted and after two shots they are HOT.

Nothing just practice. This is going to be a hunting rifle for a client and I don't want any unforeseen issues with load. Elk season kicks off in September and deer in October. October temps here can get very close to 100 degrees when guys are out getting rifles ready. Rifle specs are as follows:

Alamo precision hunter action
26" shilen #5 8tw
Ross Schuler 4 port brake
HS Precision stock
Timney trigger

The nodes I've found with RL-33 are fairly wide, so when I load in the middle of the node I have no problems.

Once temp gets below 15 f, all bets are off. And I haven't shot it above 80 f either, so can't speak on that regard.

Didn't know the temps were that hot in hunting season but understand. In that the case, as long as accuracy is adequate for the mission, I would stick with the temp stable powders.

I use RL33 in a 264 WM and ran my own temp sensitivity on that one. Here in Texas, we get lows in the 20's and summer highs in the 100-110 fairly common.
For MY rifle in MY loadings, I came up with about a .86 degree change per degree increase from 40 degrees to 98. Please note, this WILL vary based on the cartridge, rifle, loading etc. (in short, YMMV)
