28 Nosler Build

So I have built a couple 28 Noslers now but have yet to have the time to play with one. I just built an ultralight (8lb 3 oz. with scope) for a friend. Its a Pierce Ti, brux @ 25.5", Manners eh-3, and a 3-18x vx-6.
I seated a 195 hybrid .015" off touch and started at 84 of rl33. 3 shots to get a 100yd zero, then out to 300 for a quick ladder test. Went from 84-87.5 in .5 gn. increments. There was a pretty steady 15mph wind with some decent mirage, but that 195 didnt move and only drop 5.5" at 300. Pretty tight ladder, the first 7 shots went into 1 3/8" vertical, but looks like 85 should work. The chrony is a POS but velocity is just north of 3050. The more I mess with these, the more I think I need one too

I think that caliber is a winner for long range hunting. When they came out with the 26 i had ptg make me a 28,30, and 338 version. Very good idea

BEAUTIFUL rifle!!! has anyone tried running the 28 nosler with a 180gr hybrid? what Powder, primer combo?

I did a quick tune on one with 180 vlds. I think I ended up around 85 or so of Retumbo with a federal mag primer. You need a very long throat for the 195 to be seated up the neck, the 180 vld is about 1/2-2/3 down in the neck and I am sure you couldnt touch the lands with the hybrid. What I love about this case is that you can seat the 195 all the way out in the neck and still feed it from a wyatts box mag. I am ordering a 30 Nosler reamer as well, same thing a 230 seated above the neck/shoulder and it still fits the wyatts box. Only thing that could make it better would be Lapua brass so we could run 70k psi Nosler really did a nice job with this case the standard case dimentions leave .004" neck clearance as well so you could still do a clean up on the necks and have respectable neck clearance.

How effective is that 2 port brake with recoil it sure looks clean.

Better than I expected, thats a Ti brake from Pierce. The gun comes straight back and recoil is about like an un-braked 308 loaded hot.
